Access Agriculture was recently awarded Prize Digital for Developments (D4D) iStandOut award during an October ceremony in Belgium. Access Agriculture is an international NGO that hosts nearly 200 videos in 75 languages, all freely downloadable. Development organizations, extension services, TV and rural radio stations, farmer organizations, and others distribute the local language videos. Prize D4D rewards outstanding initiatives that use digitization and new technologies as a lever for development towards achieving the United Nations General Assembly’s Sustainable Development Goals. While accepting the award, team members were congratulated on the platform’s innovative approach and outstanding outreach. Rather than developing documentary videos for donors, Access Agriculture has encouraged the production, translation, distribution and use of farmer-to-farmer training videos. The approach facilitates broad access to quality training videos in local languages in Africa, Asia and Latin America. The Collaborative Crop Research Program has provided support toward the development and distribution of several farmer training videos. Read more about the ceremony and plans for prize funds here.
