The inception meeting for the Pigeonpea FRN Project (RECODA) was held February 10 and 11 in Singida, bringing together 25 participants that included farmers, Sokoine University Agroecological Hub members, district officials, extension staff, and project staff. The CCRP regional representative facilitated along with a member of the research methods team. The meeting objectives were to review 1) the project theory of change, 2) the research and evaluation questions, and 3) the M&E plan. It also served as a forum to reflect on how the project could better align to the overall program and ESAf theory of change. All of these objectives were achieved.

Key highlights from the process included farmers analyzing and presenting what they felt were the key achievements from the previous phase and what they felt still needed to be addressed in the new phase. The roles of all the different stakeholders were also clarified.

One key output from the workshop was a critical analysis of the context and the potential implications for the project. Click here to view the project’s context analysis.
